We are learning about plants grow and seeds sprout. We grew cress and sprouted broad beans in class. We watched how water moves through plants by putting celery in coloured water.
This is how my cress changed over time.
I am a Year 8 student at Ruapotaka School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 12 and my teachers are Mrs Golder and Mr Reid.

Room 10's Movie
When we were doing our film for the film festival I had to do my part with Alex and Henry. We were reading the newspaper in the library to practise. We saw the All Blacks with their names on the paper to show who were the new players for RWC 2015. Alex, Henry and I were doing the sign A for the Ruapotaka sign.
When it was time to do our film, we got on our rockets and started using Cybersmart learning. It was for our film festival movie because it was so special for Room 10. We were so excited about going to Sylvia Park mall to the movies. I couldn't wait until it was time to go. It was going to be cool.

Our Super Cybersmart Learning
Before we launched our own blogs, we checked out some student blogs in Manaiakalani to see what kinds of information people share. We noticed that they used photographs and videos as well as writing to share their learning. We created an infographic to share what we discovered.

Being a responsible student
In Term 2 Mrs Grant taught us about Kawa of Care. This means that it is my job to look after my Chromebook carefully when I am working and when I carry it around the classroom.

Making cool fraction pizzas
We are learning about fractions this term. To remember and think about what we already know, we made sausage roll and pizza with clay. We divided our shapes into fractions. Each piece was the same size. Then, we made some pizza toppings for a whole pizza. We shared them out on our pizza. Each quarter of my pizza had 6 toppings.

My Snail trail
This is one of the first Digital Learning Objects that we created and it was quite tricky. I chose somewhere in the world I would like to visit one day. Then I found an image of it on Google images. Next, I cut around a photograph of my head using Pixlr so I could put myself in that place. Maybe I will travel there in the future in real life.

ANZAC
On 25th April 2015, it was the 100th anniversary of ANZAC soldiers landing at Gallipoli. We learnt lots of things about life and war for the ANZAC soldiers when we visited Auckland Museum in April. We created poppies, we have written poems and letters about ANZAC and World War 1.
I have chosen to share my biscuit poster because it is what the soldiers eat on ANZAC Day. I have learnt that many soldiers have died for our country because they were protecting our country.

My culture is Cook Island
Kia ora! My name is Mary. I am nine years old and my culture is Cook Island. I go to Ruapotaka School and I am in Room 10. I am a Year 5 student and my class teacher is Mrs Buchanan.
I am learning some Cybersmart stuff in Room 10, like creating some Google drawings. My favourite subjects are reading and maths. I like maths because we do other things like problem solving. My goal is to learn my 8 and 9 times tables. I like reading because we get to read different stories. My favourite thing to do is sports.
I admire my family because they take care of me. When I grow up, I want to be a superstar like Maria Tutaia.
